LED ZEPPELIN - STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN VOTED TOP ROCK SONG

LED ZEPPELIN's classic song STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN has been voted the greatest rock song of all time.

The 1971 epic tune gained 70 per cent of the votes cast in a poll by British radio station PLANET ROCK - one of three songs the legendary band scored in the top ten.

American rockers LYNYRD SKYNYRD came second with their lengthy 1973 song FREE BIRD, while QUEEN's six-minute 1975 opus BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY came number three.

Planet Rock presenter MARK JEEVES says, "The number one may be seen as a rock cliche but the truth is that it's probably the only rock song ever written that most fans can agree is a classic. After all these years, there's still nothing to touch it."
