SONIC YOUTH rocker KIM GORDON believes America is deeply rooted in celebrity culture because of its relatively young history. The 53-year-old, who wrote the band's 2004 song KIM GORDON AND THE ARTHUR DOYLE HAND CREAM about MARIAH CAREY's breakdown, admits watching the antics of the famous is hard to avoid.
