DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE - SMOKY BERLIN BAFFLES DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE

Cult US band DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE struggled to complete a live show in Berlin yesterday (01FEB06), because of the smoky atmosphere at the venue in the German capital.

THE STABILITY rockers were left gasping for air, because cigarettes are banned from most venues in America, and lead singer BEN GIBBARD found the noxious fumes hurt his voice.

He says, "We're not used to the smoke. In the States, everywhere is banned from smoking.

"We're not accustomed to it. (My voice) is okay, a little weak maybe. But after a little time it'll be accustomed to it."
