SHAKIRA - SHAKIRA EYES LATIN 'LIVE AID'

Latina singer SHAKIRA is following in the footsteps of Live Aid and Live 8 organiser SIR BOB GELDOF by planning a charity event to help the poor in South America. The WHENEVER, WHEREVER hitmaker claims poverty in her part of the world is ignored while campaigners focus on areas such as Africa and Asia. She says, "We want this to be an event that brings world attention to poverty in Latin America, which is virtually invisible to the rest of the world." Sources say the event, tentatively planned for 2007, will include artists such as JUANES, ALEJANDRO SANZ and MIGUEL BOSA, who all renowned for working in aid of charitable causes.
