JASON SCHWARTZMAN - SCHWARTZMAN IDOLISES MARTIN

JASON SCHWARTZMAN was determined not to overdo his adoration of SHOPGIRL co-star STEVE MARTIN on their first meeting - but promptly began reciting lines from all of Martin's films.

The 25-year-old actor jumped at the chance to star alongside his idol - who wrote, produced and starred in the adaptation of his 2000 novella - but was unable to control himself when they came face to face.

He says, "I will read or go see anything Steve Martin's involved with, so I read the book when it came out.

"Then I got the script, loved it and met the director who recommended I meet Steve Martin.

"I kept telling myself, 'Don't tell him how much you love him, you'll freak him out,' then I sat down with him... and recited lines from every one of his movies."
