HARRY POTTER - ROWLING KEEPS TABS ON SPENDING
NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||

HARRY POTTER writer JK ROWLING is so determined not to become a frivolous spender, she sets herself limits when she goes shopping.
The author, who was a struggling single mother surviving on $125 (GBP70) a week before her children's novels made her richer than the Queen of England, enjoys being wealthy but still feels guilty when she splashes out.
She says, "If you've literally been worrying: 'Will the money last until the end of the week?' you will never, ever complain about having the money.
"It enables you, sets you free from worry. It allows you to travel, to help people. I'm grateful for it every single day.
"I love a handbag and I love shoes (but) I've got a mental amount that I can't spend beyond.
"I still have a limit to what I think I would be justified in spending on frivolity."
