AVRIL LAVIGNE - ROCK TRIUMPHS AT MTV ASIA AID

LATEST: Rock was the big winner at the MTV ASIA AWARDS 2005 last night (03FEB05), with AVRIL LAVIGNE and MAROON 5 picking up gongs in the international categories.

The annual awards bash was repositioned as MTV ASIA AID, a global benefit concert to raise money to victims of the December (26DEC04) tsunami.

Despite USHER picking up Favourite International Male Artists, all the international trophies were awarded to rock acts, including ASHLEE SIMPSON and SIMPLE PLAN.

The winners were announced at the concert at Thai capital Bangkok's Impact Arena, in a ceremony hosted by R+B beauty ALICIA KEYS.
