Punk icon JOHN McGEOCH has died in his sleep - he was 48.
The musical pioneer is credited with helping bring the punk movement into the mainstream with his work as editor on MANCHESTER BAND MAGAZINE during the 1970s.
He went on to play with SOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES and former SEX PISTOL JOHN LYDON's band PUBLIC IMAGE LTD.
For the past eight years, McGeoch had been working as a nurse.
