US rockers PEARL JAM are celebrating after being awarded the rights to an internet domain name, almost identical to the band's official website address, which directed users to unrelated commercial sites.

The ALIVE group - fronted by EDDIE VEDDER - took their case to America's National Arbitration Forum after learning internet site PearlJams.com was being operated without their permission.

The site included unauthorised links to 'Sponsored Results For Eddie Vedder' and 'Pearl Jam And Eddie Vedder - $9.99', among others.

Pearl Jam registered their trademark in 1995.

A spokesman for the National Arbitration Forum described PearlJams.com as a "confusingly similar" domain name when the decision was made last week (ends30DEC05).
