English actor SIR ROGER MOORE will star as THE SAINT once again - more than 35 years after he last stepped out as the gentleman thief.

The former JAMES BOND star has let slip a TV movie about an ageing SIMON TEMPLAR is being written - with him in the lead role at the age of 77.

Moore writes on his official website, "There are moves afoot to make a new Saint TV movie.

"The characters will be very faithful to the original stories - it will be actually set in the thirties, though with a contemporary twist, bringing in an ageing Templar."

He then hints, "Who will play him, I wonder."

A spokesperson adds on the official fansite of the late LESLIE CHARTERIS, who created the original series, "What we can do is confirm there are moves afoot.

"If it comes off in line with some of the material we've seen, then we think Saint fans will be very, very happy."
