Australian actress RADHA MITCHELL thought it was a hoax when she received a call from legendary director WOODY ALLEN asking her to star in MELINDA AND MELINDA - until she received the script.

The MAN ON FIRE beauty was on her way home from Los Angeles airport when her mobile phone rang and she was shocked to hear somebody claiming to be Allen offering her a part.

Mitchell had expected the call to be from her mother checking she had arrived home safely following a visit to her homeland of Australia - and not MANHATTAN veteran Allen.

The 31-year-old tells British magazine HOTDOG, "My cell-phone started ringing in the taxi on the way home. I thought it was my mum calling to check that I had landed safely, but it was Woody Allen ringing to see if I wanted to be in his movie!

"I wasn't sure if it was actually him or not, because it didn't sound like him and I wasn't expecting him to call. Then I got the script and realised it was true."
