Pop hunk ROBBIE WILLIAMS is devastated GEORGE MICHAEL is quitting the music industry - because he was planning to record a duet with the ex-WHAM! star.

Williams approached Michael about the collaboration when they were filming their cameo appearances for a charity episode of British TV comedy LITTLE BRITAIN.

But FAITH star Michael has since announced his decision to step away from the limelight to compose songs for other artists.

The ANGELS singer complains, "I'm gutted. I wanted to duet with him on my album."
