EWAN MCGREGOR - MCGREGOR NEARLY SUFFOCATED IN FILM STUNT

Hollywood hunk EWAN McGREGOR was almost suffocated to death by fellow Scots co-star PETER MULLAN in a near-fatal film stunt.

Mullan - who is currently filming psychological thriller THE CARGO - forced a plastic bag over McGregor's head in a gruesome scene from 1994 thriller SHALLOW GRAVE.

But the stunt nearly ended in disaster when the MOULIN ROUGE! actor lost consciousness after a desperate struggle for breath.

Mullan says, "It was horrible. Ewan started getting really woozy and passing out, because he was hyperventilating so much.

"It's always difficult when you're doing violence."
