SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY - MCCARTNEY SCRAPS LOVE SONGS ALBUM
SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has ditched plans to record an album of BEATLES love songs because he couldn't get the estates of JOHN LENNON and GEORGE HARRISON to agree with him on the project.
McCartney was hoping to release a LOVE SONGS collection in time for St Valentine's Day (14FEB05), but he reportedly couldn't get clearance to re-record FAB FOUR classics for the album.
A source tells classic rock website ARROWFM.COM, "Since Beatles songs like MICHELLE and YESTERDAY are credited to the Beatles, and not just Lennon-McCartney, the group's company would have to unanimously agree on the songs' addition on any release."
The group's company is owned jointly by McCartney, RINGO STARR and the estates of Lennon and Harrison.
