Rocker JOHN MAYER shocked staff at his old high school last week (ends24DEC04) when he attended a ceremony to be inducted into the institute's Hall of Fame unannounced.
The singer/songwriter was flattered when staff at Fairfield Warde High School in Connecticut chose to honour him - but they never expected him to turn up.
Mayer was "stalled" and then escorted back to his car after staff explained they were not equipped to deal with their star pupil.
