ELIJAH WOOD - LORD OF THE RINGS STARS PARTIED WITH FANS AFTER OSCARS

ELIJAH WOOD and his LORD OF THE RINGS co-stars shunned a host of post-OSCAR bashes - to party with thousands of fans instead.

Wood, SEAN ASTIN, BILLY BOYD and DOMINIC MONAGHAN made their way to an annual fan party thrown by ONERING.NET after their movie LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING scooped 12 statuettes at the ACADEMY AWARDS last month (29FEB04).

Wood says, "There's like 3,000 fans there and sort of hobbity, middle-Earth entertainment. They had a roster of bands that did sort of Celtic music and in fact, there was a sort of hobbit rap band and I believe they were in costume.

"You'd be surprised at how many women there are in the Ringer camp. It's mostly women. I'd say it's 70-30 to women. It's kinda great though.

"It's funny because I think that we assumed that the fan base was largely gonna be guys because that's the people that read the books and there aren't many women in the books."
