JENNIFER LOPEZ - LOPEZ AND LL COOL J LAWSUIT DISMISSED

JENNIFER LOPEZ and rapper LL COOL J were celebrating on Wednesday (24MAY06) when a lawsuit filed against them was thrown out of a California court. An appeals court judge dismissed a case filed in 2003 by singer DEBRA LAWS, claiming the stars misappropriated her 1981 song VERY SPECIAL in their 2002 duet ALL I HAVE. The court decided Laws did not have a case against the artists or Sony Music since Sony had properly obtained a licence to use a 10-second segment of the song. The judge advised Laws that she should instead sue her record label and publisher for breach of contract for entering a licence agreement without her authorisation.
