JENNIFER LOPEZ's strong objection to ex-fiance BEN AFFLECK's gambling habits fuelled a blazing row over a casino table, resulting in the couple sleeping in separate rooms.

The Hollywood couple agreed to spend their New Year (JAN04) break in Las Vegas in a last ditch bid to mend their relationship problems - but the trip ended up doing more harm than good.

Whilst J.LO did her best to focus on Ben, he was more intent on sneaking down to the casino floor whenever he could - even waiting until Jen was asleep to fuel his gambling obsession, according to Britain's HELLO magazine.

A close source says, "One night, Jen woke up to discover he was missing. She found him at a gaming table and sat down next to him, refusing to leave until he did. Ben hates playing with her next to him and it ended in a shouting match, with Ben deciding to get his own room."

It has been reported that Ben's gambling obsession and bachelor lifestyle were major factors in their recent split.
