QUEEN LATIFAH - LATIFAH RULES OUT URBAN JOKES

QUEEN LATIFAH vetoed a cockfight scene in her 2003 comedy BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE because she felt it would be too offensive to black people.
The rapper-turned-movie star executive produced the film, in which she starred with STEVE MARTIN, and gave the script a major rehaul before the cameras rolled - because many of the urban jokes in the movie were over the top.
She explains, "We couldn't shoot the script I was given. It was way too offensive and over-the-top in terms of the comedy.
"There was a rooster fight in there before. I had a cockfight going on in his (Martin's character) garage. He winds up fighting the cock. The rooster kicks his a**."
