KORN frontman JONATHAN DAVIS insists the departure of guitarist and songwriter BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH has made the band more focused - because he complicated the songwriting process.

The rocker is adamant that, although Head and fellow guitarist JAMES 'MUNKY' SHAFFER were equally credited for their creative contribution to the group's last three albums, in reality Head's input was sporadic and unimpressive.

And Davis is confident Korn's latest album tracks are far better for not having him in the team.

He says, "I don't want to bag on Head, but he didn't write a lot of the music.

"For the last three albums, he was there, but he wasn't there at the same time.

"Munky needed that push to take over and do it. He's done a f**king incredible job.

"Every day, new riffs would be flying out of him."
