CAPOTE - KEENER WANTED TO BE A NUN
CAPOTE star CATHERINE KEENER wanted to be a nun when she was younger, because she was attracted to the simple lifestyle enjoyed by religious devotees. The actress, who is currently starring in FRIENDS WITH MONEY, had no ambitions to become an actress, and was excited about the prospect of leaving all the worries associated with material goods behind. But the 46-year-old decided against joining a religious order when she discovered women were actively discriminated against in the Catholic Church. She explains, "I didn't even know about actors when I was a kid. I liked the lifestyle (the nuns had). I just thought they don't have to think about clothes. It was quiet. It seemed simple and nice. "But then I found out that nuns had no power. I wanted to become a priest and they don't allow women to become priests in the Catholic church. "I realised there were no inroads for a girl."
