JANE KACZMAREK - KACZMAREK EXPLAINS HIP EMMY AD

Actress JANE KACZMAREK decided to show off her artificial hip in her EMMY campaign, because she felt uncomfortable posing for a glamorous snapshot.

Kaczmarek underwent hip-replacement surgery earlier this year (04) after suffering from severe arthritis, and now she's using her past pains to her advantage.

TV bosses are so thrilled that she received a nomination in the Lead Actress in a Comedy category for her efforts in MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, they recently put out a full-page advertisement in Hollywood trade publication DAILY VARIETY. It read, "Vote for Jane! The only nominee with an artificial hip (except for ANTHONY LaPAGLIA)."

Kaczmarek explains the unusual ad, "What am I gonna do, put in one of those glamour-shot-for-your-consideration ads? That's not really me. And the episode I submitted had my character in a kielbasa-eating contest! So there's not a lot of dignity in this year's campaign."

The actress and her award rivals - JENNIFER ANISTON, PATRICIA HEATON, BONNIE HUNT and SARAH JESSICA PARKER - will find out the winner when the ceremony takes place next month (SEP04).
