JIM CARREY - JIM CARREY DOMINATES US BOX OFFICE

JIM CARREY's movie LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS has debuted at the top of the American box office, after raking in $30.2 million (GBP15.8 million) over the weekend.
The film, based on the first three children's books by Lemony Snicket, who is actually author DANIEL HANDLER, knocked OCEAN'S TWELVE - which took in another $18.3 million (GBP9.6 million) to second place.
SPANGLISH, starring TEA LEONI and ADAM SANDLER, made its debut at third place with an estimated weekend haul of $9 million (GBP4.7 million).
TOM HANKS' movie THE POLAR EXPRESS is continuing to chug along, sitting in fourth place after pulling in $8.6 million (GBP4.5 million) - bringing its total over six weeks to $123.6 million (GBP65 million).
BLADE: TRINITY, starring WESLEY SNIPES, rounds out the top five with earnings of $6.6 million (GBP3.4 million).
