BOB HOSKINS - HOSKINS: 'I'M HAPPY TO BE BALD'

Actor BOB HOSKINS was happy when he went bald, because he has always hated hair.

The portly star wears a wig for his role in new BOBBY DARIN biopic BEYOND THE SEA - but he has never been tempted to wear one for real.

He says, "They're horrible things, wigs and toupees. Even when I was young in the 60s and everyone else had long hair, I wanted it short.

"Long hair just got in the way. I didn't want it hanging over my ears and down over my back.

"I was quite glad when it fell out. I didn't have to worry about it any more.

"I've never been tempted to buy a toupee."
