DANNY GLOVER - GLOVER JOINS URBAN FARM PROTEST

LATEST: Veteran actor DANNY GLOVER yesterday (01JUN06) joined protesters including folk singer JOAN BAEZ and actress DARYL HANNAH hoping to persuade a Los Angeles landowner not to sell off a beloved urban farm. The LETHAL WEAPON star told the gathering to ignore an eviction order, authorised last weekend (27/28MAY06), to leave the farm. Developers are planning to cut down the trees and turn owner ROB HOROWITZ's 14-acre site into land for housing. Glover told the gathering, "Not only is this sustainable development, but we're talking about organic farming. This is food that comes from the community. "They (the farmers) are doing what is just and what is right. "There has to be some social accountability even though people want to make money."
