Irish actor BRENDAN GLEESON desperately tried to talk his sons out of acting because he didn't want them to end up in dead-end careers. The GANGS OF NEW YORK star was horrified that his sons DOMHNALL - who starred in Oscar-winning short SIX SHOOTER with his father - and BRIAN would waste their lives chasing fruitless dreams. He says, "Did I try to dissuade them from following in my footsteps? Absolutely. You're terrified for them. I'd be terrified of their morale getting smashed and of them arriving in their late 20s, and having no where to go. "It's not the initial stuff, the initial stuff is exuberant, and hopeful and idealistic, but I know it takes a toll on people's morale."
