FAST FOOD NATION - 'FAST FOOD NATION HAD TO BE BRITISH', SAYS SCHLOSSER
FAST FOOD NATION author ERIC SCHLOSSER insists the adaptation of his controversial book had to be made by British film-makers, even though it is about America. Producers MALCOLM MCLAREN and JEREMY THOMAS feared the novel's explosive message would have been stifled in patriotic Hollywood. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Schlosser said, "I can't stress how important it was to make this film outside the normal system. "Jeremy Thomas was absolutely crucial in this. There are very few films that can be made in Hollywood with a message that is controversial."
