EMINEM - EMINEM WINS CYBERSQUATTING CASE AT THE UN

Rap superstar EMINEM has won his battle against a cybersquatter using his trademark on an internet site, after a UNITED NATIONS ruling.

The STAN hitmaker was furious to discover TIM MCINTOSH and VISITAIR LTD were using the web address WWW.EMINEMMOBILE.COM to attract buyers to their site, which sold mobile ring tones and picture messages.

But the UN's WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION ruled today (22APR04) the superstar must have the name transferred over to him within 10 days, after deciding McIntosh and Visitair Ltd had acted in bad faith when registering the name.

The losing party has until the deadline to launch an appeal against the ruling.
