EMBRACE frontman DANNY McNAMARA faded into obscurity after becoming too "comfortable" in the rock industry.

The British band - who returned to the top of the UK charts in spectacular style last year (04) with their comeback album OUT OF NOTHING - scored widespread acclaim and success with their debut THE GOOD WILL OUT in 1998, but allowed their standards to slip thereafter.

And McNamara admits they contributed to their own downfall by turning lazy and failing to fully focus on their song writing.

He says, "We just became comfortable and lost our ambition.

"With the first album, the ambition to get signed and get noticed was there. With the second, we just enjoyed making the record - it's got some great stuff but it's not honed down.

"When we got dropped, that ambition came back and we've realised it's an important ingredient in us making good albums."
