Elvis scored a number one around the world with the track in 1956, but writers JERRY LEIBER and MIKE STOLLER originally penned Hound Dog for black female singer BIG MAMA THORNTON - and hated Elvis' performance of the song.

Stoller says Presley "sounded stiff and too fast - a little nervous. It didn't have that insinuating groove like on Big Mama's record".
