ELTON JOHN is reportedly furious that his post-Oscars party was upstaged after rival organisers VANITY FAIR allegedly staged a dirty tricks campaign.

The ROCKET MAN singer holds a bash every year to raise funds for his Aids foundation, and it's rivaled only by the event held by the upmarket magazine.

This year Vanity Fair decided it would not allow photographers into its event, in order that its guests would not be captured celebrating during wartime.

INSTYLE magazine, which sponsors Elton's part, followed suit, but then Vanity Fair changed its mind at the last minute. The result according to OK magazine: no press coverage for Elton; loads for Vanity Fair, leaving the British singer fuming.
