ELTON JOHN - ELTON TO WED FURNISH

SIR ELTON JOHN plans to marry his long-term boyfriend DAVID FURNISH - as soon as gay marriage is legalised in Britain.

The ROCKET MAN singer only decided he wanted to get married again - after divorcing wife RENATE BLAUEL in 1988 - when American PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH recently announced a proposed constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriage.

John says, "I was on the fence about it for a while. I've been married before. I thought, why would I want to get married again?

"I'm totally for it. In this day and age, if people who want to make a life commitment can't have protection, then we live in a pretty sick world."

British John and Canadian Furnish will wed when a new UK law on civil unions comes into being.

"We're definitely going to do it when it gets passed. I would like to commit myself to David. I already have in my mind anyway."
