CLINT EASTWOOD - EASTWOOD ALMOST BLINDED CO-STAR

Actor CLINT EASTWOOD almost blinded a co-star while shooting 1968 Nazi movie WHERE EAGLES DARE.
English actor DERREN NESBITT - playing SS MAJOR VON HAPEN was meant to be shot in the head and chest by Eastwood, but explosives built into his jacket failed to go off.
On the final attempt, the 69-year-old explains, "The whole thing blew and flames went into my eyes.
"They blindfolded me and took me to hospital. And there I was in a SS officer's uniform, with a perfect bullet hole in my forehead, a gaping hole in my chest, squelching blood. I didn't have to wait."
Nesbitt's sight was saved. As a means of apology, Eastwood sent Nesbitt a hamper from exclusive British store Fortnum + Mason, containing some eye lotion.
