JESSICA SIMPSON - E! ONLINE APOLOGISES TO SIMPSON

LATEST: JESSICA SIMPSON has received a public apology from E! ONLINE, a day after the website posted a bogus reports claiming she had filed for divorce from her husband NICK LACHEY.

The apology yesterday (25MAY05) after reporting that the IRRESISTIBLE singer had officially filed to end her two-and-a-half-year marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences".

The statement reads, "E! deeply regrets that a draft report from E! Online, which contained some false information regarding the Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson marriage, was accidentally disseminated.

"The couple has not filed for divorce. E! apologises to Nick, Jessica, their families and their fans for any distress this may have caused."

Late yesterday Simpson told US WEEKLY about the posting, "It is completely false and we would sue them if they hadn't taken it down."
