Country star WYNONNA JUDD's drink driving arrest gave the singer a much-needed "kick in the butt," because it reminded her to watch out for excess.

The singer lost her driver's license for a year and was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty to drunken driving in December (03) following her arrest in Nashville, Tennessee in November (03).

Authorities said Judd registered a blood alcohol level of 0.175 per cent - more than twice the legal limit.

Judd, the sister of actress ASHLEY JUDD, admits the arrest put her in her place, and she's determined not to let anything like this happen again.

She says, "For me, it wasn't about the alcohol as much as it was about excess. It's like all or nothing for me. I don't drink very much but that night it was a girlfriend's birthday and it was a week before my wedding.

"I got carried away. I was really distracted by celebrating and I didn't pay attention. It was like, `Wake up! Pay attention and don't be arrogant.'"

Judd has revealed her 200 hours of community service will be spent delivering meals on wheels.
