Rap superstar DR DRE has been ordered to pay a British record company $1.5 million (GBP1 million) after plagiarising a bass-line for one of his songs.

A Los Angeles jury has ruled Dre copied the bass-line from FATBACK's song BACKSTROKIN' on LET'S GET HIGH from his 2001 album THE CHRONIC.

Although the judge has yet to sign the judgement, the jury recommended Dre be ordered to pay the hip-hopper pay $1.5 million to London-based MINDER MUSIC.

The Chronic sold nine million copies worldwide.
