MICHAEL DOUGLAS - DOUGLAS AND ZETA-JONES TO CO-STAR IN FILM
MICHAEL DOUGLAS and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES want to make their next film together - even if doesn't sell tickets at the box office.
Douglas, who is 60 this year (SEP04), and Zeta Jones, 34, starred together in TRAFFIC in 2000, and now the couple want to repeat the experience.
Douglas says, "I'd probably look to do a picture with Catherine next.
"The general consensus from the studios is that couples in films are not that interesting. So we'll try to find a picture that we'll do some time in the future, simply for the enjoyment of working together. We've got ideas, but we haven't made any definite decisions."
One idea is a remake of the 1950s musical GUYS AND DOLLS which Douglas' literary company already owns the rights to.
He enthuses, "It would certainly be an exciting project and I know musical comedy is one of Catherine's loves."
Zeta-Jones, who won an OSCAR for her role in the musical CHICAGO, would be a natural in the film about a gambler who falls in love with a Christian missionary. But Douglas admits the all-singing, all-dancing role may be a struggle for him.
Douglas muses, "Well, I need to talk to Catherine about it. I'm very short on the hoofing and the singing part."
