PETE DOHERTY - DOHERTY CHARGED

LATEST: Singer PETE DOHERTY has been charged with robbery and blackmail by police in London.

The former THE LIBERTINES singer and musician pal ALAN WASS were arrested after an incident in a hotel in the British capital on Wednesday night (02FEB05).

Police were called to the hotel in response to claims a man had been assaulted. The man, in his 30s, was later taken to hospital with facial injuries and then discharged.

Doherty - who has been dating supermodel KATE MOSS - was bailed today (04FEB05) by London's Highbury Corner Magistrates Court, after his record companies put up bonds totalling $285,000 (GBP150,000).

Under strict bail conditions, Doherty must be at his London home by 10pm every night and is only allowed out of the house if accompanied by a bodyguard.

He has also surrendered his passport, scuppering plans to escape to Russia with Moss - as he was reportedly planning to do.

Both Doherty and Wass must appear at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court on 21 February (05).

The 25-year-old rocker quit The Libertines in June last year (04) after failing to kick his addictions to heroin and crack cocaine. He has since been performing with his own band BABYSHAMBLES.
