PETE DOHERTY - DOHERTY AND MOSS TO WED

Singer PETE DOHERTY has confirmed reports he's engaged to model KATE MOSS, insisting they could be heading down the aisle as soon as next month (APR05).

The high-profile couple began dating in January (05) after the British beauty fell for the self-confessed heroin addict at her 31st birthday party.

And the catwalk beauty sparked engagement rumours last week (ends11MAR05) after she was spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding finger.

Doherty says, "Yes, it's true, I have asked her to marry me - and she's agreed. I told her that if we were to continue going out with each other then she'd have to marry me.

"She assured me she doesn't trust me an inch - and I'm a bit paranoid and insecure -so we make a right pair. But she's one of the most beautiful women in the world, so who wouldn't be insecure? Thankfully she agreed to marry me."

The couple are reportedly preparing to fast-track their wedding plans to early next month because the BABYSHAMBLES frontman is facing up to four years in jail if convicted of robbery and assault charges at his next court date on 18 April.

Doherty adds, "We haven't set a date yet but if things aren't going well in court we may have to marry before the case ends.

"Obviously, with it all hanging over our heads we can't plan too much ahead."
