Cult sci-fi show Doctor Who was the big winner at Britain's National TV Awards in London last night (25OCT05), taking three trophies, including Most Popular Drama.

English actor Christopher Eccleston, who only played the timelord for one series, and on-screen sidekick Billie Piper were named Most Popular Actor and Most Popular Actress at the star-studded ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.

Rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell's talent TV show The X Factor was named Most Popular Entertainment Programme and Osbourne was named Most Popular Expert on TV for her musical wisdom.

Other winners on the night included BBC soap opera Eastenders for Most Popular Serial Drama, LITTLE BRITAIN for Most Popular Comedy Programme, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire for Most Popular Quiz Programme and Big Brother for Most Popular Reality Programme.
