DIRTY DANCING - DIRTY DANCING TO HIT THE STAGE
Classic 1980s romance DIRTY DANCING is being turned into a stage musical to hit London's West End this October (06).
The show will follow the path of movies-turned-musicals BILLY ELLIOT and THE PRODUCERS, after a successful run in Australia's theatre district.
Filmwriter ELEANOR BERGSTEIN, who wrote the original movie starring PATRICK SWAYZE and JENNIFER GREY, will adapt the script for the stage.
Producer KEVIN JACOBSEN says, "It's the perfect date musical. It's a really good story and as well as the dirty sexual dancing, there's Latin, tango, mambo and ballroom."
Dirty Dancing, about a naive rich girl who falls for a rebellious dance instructor while holidaying with her family, features favourite hits such as I'VE HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE and HUNGRY EYES.
