DILATED PEOPLES - DILATED PEOPLES PROUD TO BE HIP-HOP CONSCIENCE

Acclaimed hip-hop group DILATED PEOPLES are proud to buck the trend of modern rap music with their socio-political lyrics, because most of their contemporaries prefer to focus on money and rivalry. The PLATFORM stars - RAKAA, EVIDENCE and DJ BABU - feel it is their responsibility to highlight the problems which affect America's millions of poor people, but they always try to mix the serious issues with a healthy portion of fun. Rakaa tells MTV.com, "A lot of people are afraid to get involved (in social issues) because this is entertainment. "But ultimately (when) you have a platform, you have people's attention. Just try to do the best you can. I wouldn't necessarily say, 'Get out there and turn a good time into a political rally,' but maybe you can find a way to entertain people and at the same time interject something positive and constructive."
