JOHNNY DEPP - DEPP PRACTISED WONKA ON DAUGHTER

JOHNNY DEPP practised his WILLY WONKA on his six year old daughter LILY-ROSE MELODY - because he was scared he'd make the character too dark.
The actor - who plays the lead role in TIM BURTON's new film CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY - wanted to keep the character as life-like and captivating as in ROALD DAHL's book, on which it is based.
He says, "Many times we've played Barbies where she has said, Daddy, don't use that voice. Just talk regular.'
"But one day I just started to do the Wonka voice. She lit up and gave me this 'Where's that coming from?' kind of look.
"I thought, 'Ok, I think I'm on the right track here."
