GEORGE CLOONEY - DATE MOVIE FIGHTS OFF OSCAR-WINNER SYRIANA

Critically-panned comedy DATE MOVIE has managed to fight off competition from Oscar-winner GEORGE CLOONEY's oil thriller SYRIANA to top the UK box office charts. British audiences were drawn to the ALYSON HANNIGAN romantic comedy last weekend (04-05MAR06), when it took $1.7 million (GBP1 million) and kept Syriana at number two. JOSH HARTNETT's thriller LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN stayed at three, while Disney animation CHICKEN LITTLE slipped from two to four. Meanwhile, MARTIN LAWRENCE caper BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2 remained at number five for a second week. New releases THE WEATHER MAN, LAST HOLIDAY and THE MATADOR entered at numbers eight, nine and ten respectively.
