GRAHAM COXON - COXON AND BLOC PARTY JOIN UK VERSION OF 'DESERT SESSIONS'
Ex-BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON and BLOC PARTY are taking part in a British collaboration project modelled on QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman JOSH HOMME's DESERT SESSIONS albums.
Cult rockers YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO are organising the recordings, which will take place in their Newcastle, England, base and will also feature TOM VEK, MARTIN GRECH and REUBEN.
Yourcodenameis:Milo frontman PAUL MULLEN also hopes to persuade PJ HARVEY to join them in the collaboration. Harvey has worked with Homme on the Desert Sessions series, in which he invites a rotating cast of musicians into the Californian desert to hold up and jam.
Mullen says, "We've got this place in Newcastle and we thought we'd invite bands to come up and why not do some collaboration?
"Normally we pick them up from the station, whisk them to our rehearsal space, and just start recording. It's a 12 hour process, and after 12 hours the track should be done, completed and mixed."
