AMERICAN IDOL - COWELL COMING TO VEGAS

AMERICAN IDOL creator SIMON COWELL is hoping to find the next big Las Vegas star in his latest talent competition.

The new TV series will search the US for the best amateur singers, dancers, comedians and "bizarre novelty acts", with the winner set to land their own run in Sin City.

Cowell says, "This is the show I've always wanted to make. This time we're looking for everything. Personally, I hope to find the next SIEGFRIED + ROY.

"I promise this is going to be a fun ride."

The as-yet-untitled series will feature a panel of celebrity judges, who will assess "wannabes who have no business even pretending to have talent".

Cowell has already sold the series format to British network ITV1, and will air this summer (06) in America.
