Country hunk TRACE ADKINS has signed up as the spokesman for a food allergy awareness group after the organisation came to the aid of his four-year-old daughter.

The CHROME singer's child constantly faces a struggle with severe food allergies, and has to give up certain foods or risk serious consequences.

The country star recently travelled to Washington DC to participate in the Food Allergy + Anaphylaxis Network's (FAAN) Kids' Congress event, where he shared the story of his daughter's health problems.

The event was designed to urge politicians to pass new legislation encouraging public schools to educate faculty and staff about food allergy management.

Meanwhile, Adkins will be selling stuffed Protect A Life bear toys on his official website to raise money for FAAN.
