COLDPLAY paid tribute to England soccer ace PETER CROUCH as they closed the Isle Of Wight Festival off the coast of southern England last night (11JUN06). After singing some of the bands best-known tunes including YELLOW and FIX YOU, frontman CHRIS MARTIN explained their plans if their country's team are successful in this summer's World Cup championships. Martin told the crowd, "I've got a secret to share with you. If England do well in the World Cup we're going to release a single called DO THE CROUCH. So if England win the World Cup we're going to get our first number one." After calling the song "very simple", Martin ran through the lyrics. 'Get up off the sofa/Get up off the couch/Stop what you're doing and do the Crouch.' Crouch hit the headlines earlier this month (JUN06) with his robotic celebratory dance after he scored on the soccer pitch.
