COLDPLAY - COLDPLAY MISS OUT ON CASH WITH LATE ALBUM

British rockers COLDPLAY have missed out on a hefty record company bonus, because they didn't finish their new album in time.
The band were offered a financial incentive by label EMI to complete X+Y, the follow up to 2002 hit A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD, ahead of deadline.
But frontman CHRIS MARTIN prefers to put creativity before money or deadlines, and he believes they have produced a better album as a result.
He says, "Deadlines be damned. It was all to do with fiscal years and shareholders anyway. Once we forgot about the money we were free to push ourselves to the very limits and make the best album possible."
EMI were forced to issue a profits warning because of the late delivery of albums from Coldplay and GORILLAZ, and slow sales in January (05).
