COLDPLAY - COLDPLAY DEVASTATED BY US CRITICISM

CHRIS MARTIN is devastated by the poor reviews COLDPLAY's latest album X+Y received in America.
The YELLOW hitmakers faced a barrage of criticism from respected publications Rolling Stone and Spin - but the most cutting remarks came from The New York Times.
The unenchanted reviewer described the British rockers as "the most insufferable band of the decade. His voice is the sound between a yodel and a hiccup".
The band are set to play New York City's Madison Square Garden tonight and tomorrow (06+07SEPT05), and Martin admits recent criticism is making them nervous.
He says, "Our schedule has like 40 dates on it, but all of us are focused on those two nights. We feel we have to prove everything all over again.
"(Criticism) knocked us sideways and this is the first time we've responded to it.
"We're having trouble knowing how to answer. There is no harm in admitting you're human and these things bring you down.
"What I should have said was, 'That New York Times thing, yeah, it was f**king devastating for us.'"
